Lady Pirates back in finals

LYCEUM was hardly in trouble on Sunday as it downed its semifinal foes to clinch championship berths in the 40th WNCAA basketball and volleyball tournaments.

Lyceum routed Rizal Technological University, 60-49, at the St. Scholastica's College gym to set up a best-of-three finals duel with College of St. Benilde, the same squad it beat for its third straight crown last year.

St. Benilde led by as much as 17 points in the third quarter en route to a 73-61 win over St. Scholastica in the other Final Four duel.

St. Scholastica, however, automotically bagged third place honors.

The nine-time defending volleyball champion Lady Pirates then ousted San Beda College Alabang, 25-15, 25-13, 25-18, at the RTU gym to also reach the finals.
